Last days
If you have ever prepared for e.g. a marathon, you will have ‘tapered’. In the time shortly before the big event, you decrease the intensity of training and give your body time to rest and recover. It makes you peak at the right time.
Similar to this we advise to not schedule any mock interviews or other training activities in the very last days before the interview. Trust on your preparation. Get some extra sleep, get a tan if possible. Revisit Step 2 of this course about the online setting. Organize an empty house or office.
Last minutes
In the very last moments you might find yourself in an odd mental state. Stress makes thinking extra difficult. Therefore, a final checklist could help you enourmously:
- Did you go to the bathroom?
- Is your computer plugged in?
- Does your internet connection work?
- Share and unshare your screen a few times
- Breathe, ground, and move as learned in Step 9
- Think your positive thought (e.g. ‘I can do thiss’, ‘I am well prepared’, ‘I will survive as I always did’)
Doing these practical, rather trivial things, are not only preventing some common last-minute mistakes, they also have a reasuring effect.
Check, check, double check!
