Unique learning opportunity
Why would you spend 24 hours on preparing for a 30 minutes interaction? Both the urgency of preparing for this highly competitive interview and the longterm impact of the lessons learned along the way, could justify your time investment.
Exposing yourself and your ideas to a panel of excellent and critical reviewers offers an unique learning opportunity. It is an experience that boosts your growth as a researcher and teaches skills that you will benefit from much broader than in this specific context.
Still, the ultimate goal of the task ahead is to receive funding for your research. With that you could also compare it with a ‘sales pitch’. It is not about content alone, but also about clarity and authenticity. This is one of the most obvious moments in your career that the skillset that is needed to sell your story is of vital importance.
